Schema & Integrative Therapy

Trang Dương MSc, ISST Certified Schema Therapist

Hi, I’m Trang Duong, a Certified Schema Therapist. I offer sessions in English and Vietnamese. I am a good match for individuals seeking a therapeutic experience that is active, focused, and deeply transformative—particularly those wrestling with complex personality dynamics, developmental trauma, and persistent feelings of being at war with themselves.

My practice integrates Schema Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Psychoanalytic insights. I have dedicated my career to these approaches because I view them as powerful, compassionate frameworks for confronting inner darkness, making sense of deep suffering, and helping you build a life that feels genuinely authentic.

I work with individuals navigating long-standing patterns and internal struggles, including:

  • Internal Conflict: Feeling constantly torn, stuck, or at war with your own thoughts and emotions.

  • Emotional Intensity: Riding sudden emotional shifts while carrying a persistent fear of rejection or abandonment.

  • Protecting a Vulnerable Core: Feeling deeply affected by criticism, leading you to put up an outer mask of perfectionism, control, or hyper-self-reliance.

  • Exhausting Relational Loops: Craving deep connection, yet pulling away or feeling empty once you receive it.

  • Withdrawal & Self-Doubt: Holding back from relationships out of fear of judgment, or struggling to trust your own decisions.

  • Unhealed Emotional Wounds: Feeling as though past experiences and early attachment patterns continue to dictate your self-worth today.

About me

Modalities

My practice is heavily influenced by the work of Dr. Nancy McWilliams, Irvin D. Yalom, and Jeffrey Young. Together, these frameworks allow us to explore the deeper layers of your mind while providing practical tools for daily life:

  • Schema Therapy: Developed by Jeffrey Young, this approach helps uncover the origins of deeply ingrained life patterns (schemas), transform protective coping modes, and heal developmental trauma.

  • Psychoanalytic & Relational Insights: Informed by Dr. Nancy McWilliams, we explore underlying personality dynamics, defense mechanisms, and relational patterns to foster deep self-awareness and emotional growth.

  • Existential Inquiry: Guided by the principles of Irvin D. Yalom, we navigate fundamental human concerns—loss of meaning, isolation, and responsibility—to help you live an intentional, authentic life.

  • Integrative Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), CBT & DBT Skills: Provide concrete, structural tools for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and cognitive restructuring in everyday situations.

Areas I can help with

  • Personality-Related Patterns: Understanding the deep-seated "why" behind recurring emotional volatility, intense fears of rejection, or overwhelming needs for control, perfectionism, and approval.

  • Complex Trauma & Unhealed Wounds (CPTSD): Addressing the profound, lasting impact of early life experiences, emotional neglect, and attachment wounds on how you view your worth today.

  • Long-Term Maladaptive Cycles (Persistent Low Mood): Breaking free from chronic emotional exhaustion, persistent feelings of emptiness, and rigid coping strategies that disrupt your personal growth and vitality.

  • Interpersonal & Relationship Dynamics: Resolving persistent difficulties in how you relate to others, navigate closeness and vulnerability, set healthy boundaries, and build secure connections.

  • Existential Concerns & Life Direction: Navigating major life transitions, confronting a loss of meaning or identity, and guiding your quest to live authentically aligned with your core values.
